North Belfast residents had the opportunity to get ‘switched on’ to energy as representatives from Phoenix Natural Gas recently attended a senior citizen’s information forum to educate local residents on energy consumption and the benefits of natural gas.
The North Belfast Senior Citizen’s Forum information event took place on Wednesday 1st March at Woodvale Community Centre. The event provided an opportunity for locals to meet with organisations representing older people and speak to relevant companies offering products or services for senior citizens, including Phoenix Natural Gas.
The event was attended was attended by local residents, members of the Senior Citizen’s Forum and Lord Mayor of Belfast, Brian Kingston.
Jane Kilpatrick, Phoenix Natural Gas Energy Advisor, said, “Phoenix Natural Gas is delighted to be part of the North Belfast Senior Citizen’s Forum and meet with local residents to explain more about the benefits of natural gas and the importance of keeping a warm home.
“As we explained to the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Brian Kingston, when he visited the Phoenix Natural Gas stand, senior citizens are among the most vulnerable in our community. It is imperative that they have a well heated home to protect against adverse health implications associated with living in cold conditions.
“We know how important it is for senior citizens to have affordable warmth and we are keen to make people aware of the various schemes available to assist homeowners in keeping a warm home, such as the government-funded Boiler Replacement Allowance. Under the scheme, home owners are eligible for a grant of up to £1,000 towards the cost of replacing inefficient boilers that are over 15 years old with an energy efficient condensing boiler.
“As a company, we proactively seek to engage the community which we serve and provide information to help residents, whatever their situation. Phoenix Natural Gas would like to thank the organisers of this event and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to the next forum.”
