Blooming Great Boost for Whitehead

Two community groups helping Whitehead blossom were given a boost this week by Phoenix Energy as it marks the completion of the extension of the natural gas network to 1,500 properties in the town.

The Whitehead Wombles litter picking team and Brighter Whitehead volunteers who maintain the floral displays around the town, each received a donation from Phoenix Energy towards the materials and tools they need to continue their community work.

With more people spending time at home and exploring their local area, it’s more important than ever to keep towns tidy and the Whitehead Wombles and Brighter Whitehead volunteers have kept the town blooming despite the challenges of Covid-19.

Recognising the efforts of the volunteers, Jonathan Martindale, Director of Business Development at Phoenix Energy said: “We are delighted to support the Whitehead Wombles and Brighter Whitehead volunteers and to offer them a small boost to help them continue the great work they do to in presenting Whitehead at its best for residents and visitors.

“Being active in the communities in which we operate in is important to us at Phoenix Energy and we are delighted to help fuel these amazing volunteer efforts that keep Whitehead in bloom.”

Accepting the donations on behalf of Whitehead Wombles and Brighter Whitehead, Noel McKee, said: “We are so grateful to our wonderful volunteers who give up their time to take part in the litter collections and work tirelessly to maintain the beautiful floral displays across the town. We want to say a huge thank you to Phoenix Energy for their donation towards planting and equipment for the volunteers.”
