Crossgar is getting set for some family fun as Kilmore Rec FC, in association with Phoenix Energy, prepares to host a community football festival at Robert Adams Park from 12-4pm on Sunday 3rd June.

The event will see Kilmore Rec FC members participate in a series of small sided games, from Under 6s right through to the Over 35 age group looking to get ‘back in the game’. A football skills workshop will also run throughout the day for members of the local community to come and ‘give it a go’.

The fun day will include a BBQ and face painting for children. The Phoenix Fuelling Station will be on hand to provide much needed refreshments for the players and will be giving away goodie bags on the day.

Club Chairman, Sean McCarthy, said, “With Phoenix Energy working in the local area to bring natural gas to Crossgar, we are delighted to see the company getting behind the club and supporting the local community in what is set to be a fantastic family day out.

“Kilmore Rec FC has over 200 members and we are looking forward to seeing the whole club come together for a football festival. The aim of the day is to support current players and promote community cohesion. Through the club, members from all different backgrounds come together to play in the sport and this is something we actively encourage and promote.

“In addition to this, our Over 35’ Kilmore ‘n’ Wrecked’ team will also play an exhibition match, and provides an opportunity for older players to get back in the game whilst highlighting the importance of sustaining healthy lifestyles and friendships .

“The club has been planning for this event for a long time and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of Phoenix Energy. We look forward to welcoming them on the day along with other local clubs keen to get involved in the day, such as the Crossgar Harriers who will run a 5K event alongside the festival. We can’t thank Phoenix enough and look forward to seeing as many people from the local communities there as possible.”

Phoenix Energy Communications Manager, Geri Wright, said, “Phoenix Energy is currently working in the Crossgar area to extend the natural gas network and bring fuel choice to properties in the area.

“As a company actively engaged in the communities it serves, we are delighted to support the local sporting community in Crossgar. It’s great to see a club like Kilmore Rec FC continue to add real value to the area, promoting community cohesion and improving people’s health through sport and various programmes.

“We are delighted to partner with the club and we look forward to presenting the U13s and U14s as well as the Over 35 team with new kit on the day to help with training and encourage sustained participation in the sport. We will also be there on the day with our special Phoenix Fuelling Station and providing giveaway so I would encourage everyone to drop in to Robert McAdams park and enjoy a great day’s entertainment for the whole family.”
