Ballynahinch Olympic Football Club’s annual Youth Summer League tournament is heating up with help from Phoenix Energy as it joins forces with the team to sponsor the Finals Fun Day on Sunday 13th August.

Ballynahinch Olympic FC has held the annual kids tournament every summer for the past seven years. This year’s competition launched in June and sees the second half of the competition kick into action this week, ahead of the final in mid-August.

Ballynahinch Olympic FC Vice-Chairman, Darren McGoran, said, “The annual summer league is one of our key highlights in the calendar and always attracts a large number of spectators throughout the tournament. The finals night is hotly anticipated and we are delighted to have Phoenix Energy on board as sponsors this year to distribute well-deserved prizes to the local teams.

“This year we have 12 teams competing over the six weeks with the aim of achieving a trophy or medal for their team and throughout the tournament we will see around 100 young people participate. It’s a great way to keep kids motivated in the sport and encourage friendly rivalry amongst the teams. All of the players have worked very hard and I would encourage everyone to come along for the final game to cheer on their team and support the local sporting community.

The finals fun-day will take place on Sunday 13th August at Ballynahinch Community Centre from 12:30pm, followed by a prize-giving ceremony in the Centre, sponsored by Phoenix Energy.

Phoenix Energy Sales and Marketing Director, Jonathan Martindale, said, “Phoenix Energy is currently working in Ballynahinch to extend the natural gas network and bring fuel choice to properties in the area. As a company actively engaged in the communities it serves, we are delighted to support local sports teams and add deeper value to the local community.

“Following the success of the Ballynahinch Lions 10km race back in April, we are delighted to again lend our support to a key sporting event that engages the whole community. With excitement for the finals reaching fever pitch, we are looking forward to being a part of the event and rewarding young players for their hard work and dedication in training for the tournament.”
