Alterations to your Gas Service and Meter
Gas meter apparatus being installed will be sited in accordance with the Gas Safety Regulations Northern Ireland 2004 and BS 6400: Specification for the Installation of Gas Meters.
If, as a property owner you plan to extend your property or undertake construction in close proximity of our gas meter apparatus, or over the line of the gas supply route, you must contact us via the form below, to arrange a site survey and request a quotation for a gas supply alteration.
If this advice is ignored and a property owner builds over the gas installation the property will be disconnected and a charge applied for the additional work undertaken plus the cost of relocating the meter apparatus and reconnecting the supply.
Gas appliances need air to function safely and efficiently. Prior to undertaking any home improvements you should consider the ventilation requirements of your natural gas appliances and consult a Gas Safe Registered engineer for professional advice.
When undertaking work around you property, even of a minor nature, such as gardening, kerb laying, or driveway re-surfacing, please be aware of the route of your natural gas service which in most circumstances will be of small diameter (20mm) and yellow in colour. Please take care when excavating in the area of the service pipe and if you are having work undertaken by a contractor make them aware that you there is a buried natural gas service pipe serving your property.
Generally, although not always, your natural gas service will run in a straight line from the street to your natural gas meter (a property located on a corner might be an exception to this). Should you require further guidance on the route of your natural gas meter please contact us.
